What makes Apple’s iPhone 4 Special
Last on 7th June 2010, Steve Jobs, the CEO of Apple Inc. unveiled the new iPhone 4 at Apple WWDC 2010 Conference. This new iteration of the famous iPhone made a lot of smartphone users so curious about it.
iPhone 4
The new iPhone 4’s design is quite different from its previous models. It is now designed with stainless steel around it for more strength. With brilliant engineering, this steel chassis also functions as set of integrated antennas for GSM, UMTS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS.
Here are some of the reasons that makes iPhone 4 standout
Slim
The new iPhone 4 is now renowned as the thinnest smartphone. Its thickness is of just 9.3 mm that is 24% thinner from the thinnest smartphone.
Retina Display
Its screen definition doubles the pixels in each direction (960 x 640). Hence it has an increase of 4X overall pixel count. Apple calls it a “Retina Display” which shows a very sharp text. Its display is rated as beyond the human eye’s distinction. It measured 326ppi but the limit is just 300ppi. It also have 800:1 contrast ratio which is also 4X better than its predecessor. And the display is similar to the iPad IPS display but with remains 3.5-inch size.
A4 chip
A4 chip is the Apple’s custom built chip. They made the size of the chip smaller to make way for the battery to be bigger. With this innovation, improved battery life can now handle 7 hours of 3G talk, 6 hours of 3G browsing, 10 hours of WiFi browsing, 10 hours of video, 40 hours of music and 300 hours of standby.
3 Axis Gyroscope
Apple had joint together the gyro and accelerometer, compass for six axis, which is perfect for gaming. The camera has been upgraded into 5 megapixels, with 5X more digital zoom and a “backside illuminated sensor,” which now can also record HD video at 720p / 30fps. Plus many more features like tap to focus video, build-in video editing, one click sharing and LED flash.
Multi-tasking
Apple has imposed good improvement due to in coordination with the multi-tasking technology. This feature is already available for any smartphone in the market. Other software improvements are included like Apps Folder, New unified mail inbox and threading, the new iMovie, and the introduction of iBooks for iPhone.
Face Time
It is the advanced form of video calling. It’s a video calling from one iPhone 4 to another anywhere there is Wi-Fi with zero setup required, can be used in both portrait and landscape mode with both front and rear camera.
The phone is available in two colors, white or black. Retailing starts at $199 for the 16GB model and $299 for 32GB.
